Job Description

The Automotive Sales Consultant is responsible for selling new or used vehicles of the dealership. This position is classified as exempt from applicable wage and hour laws. Following is a list of certain minimum required duties, responsibilities and qualifications associated with the position, subject to applicable law. This list is not all inclusive and may be amended or supplemented as business needs dictate.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all facets of the vehicle sales/lease process from greeting the customer to delivery of the vehicle and (related follow up), subject to responsibilities expressly reserved for management
  • Consistently follows road to sale as set forth by management (i.e. walk around, test drive, needs analysis, etc.)
  • Maintains minimum target sales goals set by upper management
  • Displays excellent customer service skills, including without limitation: Managing

difficult or challenging customer situations; responding promptly to customer needs; soliciting customer feedback to improve service; responding to requests for service and assistance; meeting commitments to customers and management

  • Works effectively with, and assists, other Sales Consultants, co-employees and dealership management to create and maintain effective customer relationships and sell, lease, or deliver vehicles
  • Completes accurate paperwork accompanying vehicle sales
  • Maintains highest ethical standards and utilizes legal and ethical selling techniques
  • Maintains CSI scores and survey returns at or above company standards
  • Demonstrates knowledge of product knowledge and market conditions relating to vehicle lease/sales
  • Requires minimal supervision and uses resources efficiently and effectively and seeks feedback to improve performance
  • Follows Safeguards Rules and company safety procedures and policies

  • Individuals employed in this position must be able to read, and generally analyze and interpret relevant business periodical, professional journals, technical procedures and/or government regulations and write reports and general business correspondence.
  • Individuals employed in this position must demonstrate sufficient computer literacy
  • Individuals employed in this position must possess a valid driver's license in good standing
  • Individuals employed in this position must be able to enter and exit vehicles to demonstrate features and options
  • Individual employed in this position must possess a positive attitude and commitment to adhere to and administer company policies, procedures and standards
  • Individuals employed in this position must maintain business sold within market area according to factory guidelines and maintains CSI index in accordance to manufacturer's standards
