Job Description

The Parts Counterperson is responsible for assisting customers and mechanics in finding and ordering appropriate parts for repairs and upgrades to their vehicles. This position is classified as non-exempt from applicable wage and hour laws. Following is a list of certain minimum required duties, responsibilities and qualifications associated with the position, subject to applicable law. This list is not all inclusive and may be amended or supplemented as business needs dictate.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for welcoming customers with a warm and sincere greeting
  • Ensures excellent service standards and maintains high customer satisfaction
  • Assists all customers in selecting required parts in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner
  • Informs customers of companion part requirements and specials to ensure that they are exposed to the full product line
  • Answers phone calls, providing price quotes and other information
  • Notifies parts manager of out-of-stock parts that need immediate attention
  • Follows up on back-ordered parts
  • Receives payment from retail customers or obtains credit authorization
  • Complies with factory and state requirements for certifications
  • Keeps current on new products and product updates
  • Maintains organization and cleanliness of the department
  • Follows company safety procedures and policies

Job Qualifications:

  • Individuals employed in this position must be able to stand, sit and mobilize through various dealership work areas (sometimes for extended periods)
  • Individuals employed in this position must be able lift, lower, push all sizes of boxes up to and in excess of 50 lbs
  • Individuals employed in this position must have excellent customer service skills and interpersonal communication skills; cultural sensitivity and demonstrates ability to work with diverse people groups
  • Individuals employed in this position must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions and management
  • Individuals employed in this position must demonstrate sufficient computer literacy
  • Individual employed in this position must possess a positive attitude and commitment to adhere to and administer company policies, procedures and standards
